Emmanuel Kwabena Ayi is a distinguished Ghanaian conductor and composer with international acclaim, celebrated for his substantial contributions to choral music. With a career spanning over twenty years, he has inspired a new generation of musicians and music enthusiasts alike.

Family Background

Emmanuel Ayi comes from a musically gifted family, the Ayis, who are prominent members of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Ghana. His father, a medical doctor and musician, along with all eight of his uncles and aunts, are professional musicians. This rich musical heritage continues with his cousins, many of whom are also accomplished musicians.

Under his direction, The Symphonials have become a household name in Ghana and beyond, celebrated for their breathtaking performances and exceptional musicality. Emmanuel Ayi led The Symphonials to win gold medals at the inaugural African Choral and Gospel Championships in Kigali, Rwanda.

About The Symphonials


The Symphonials’ is a talented choir of mainly students and alumni of Valley View University as well as other tertiary institutions, which is dedicated to the mission of winning souls for Christ and edifying the Christian community through song ministration.

The idea of this great ministry was conceived and organized in November 2005 by Edmund Bobie Ansah with the help of colleagues: Enoch Mintah Amoah, Emmanuel Ayi and Enoch Ayi who were all students at Valley View University. Symphonials began with 7 members namely: Edmund Bobie Ansah, Enoch Mintah, Emmanuel Ayi, Enoch Ayi, Portia Opoku Boadi, Florence Asiedu, and Kofi Gyasi.

The choir has recorded more than 800 performances and concerts in and across the country. These include performances at national functions, corporate organizations, church programs, weddings, graduations among others. The Choir has over 30,000 subscribers on YouTube With over fifty (50) dedicated choristers currently, the choir has increased in numerical and vocal strength and is currently one of the best choirs in Ghana. Amongst renowned musicians in the country and diaspora, the Choir has over the years worked with George Mensah Essilfie, Ps. Dr. Kwabena Donkor, James Varrick Armaah, Newlove Annan, Stephen Ntiamoah, Adu Boateng Kwasi among others.

Currently, Symphonials is one of the best choirs in Ghana with many albums to its credit.

The choir has developed in strength and numbers over the last decade, singing a wide range of choral music and melodic melodies. The choir has recorded more than 800 performances and concerts in and across the country. These include performances at national functions, corporate organizations, church programs, weddings, graduations among others.

The Choir has won 3 gold award at the maiden African Choral and Gospel Championships held in Kigali-Rwanda 2022. Winner for AC2: Sacred and Church Choir category, 2nd Runner- Up for AC3: Open Mixed Repertoire category and 2nd Runner-Up for AC4: Classical Solo category.
